Installing tracks above architrave

Brackets and screws for screwing tracks on architrave:

Small gold brack- et 4 holes 25mm x 25mm.

16mm Small screw used for screwing slotted bracket into track.

100 x 75 large bracket. The long side screws on top of the track small side onto wall.

Brackets that are screwed on to the top of the tracks and screw:

44mm pan 10 gage.

Screws to wall top hole of bracket.

32mm
button head. Screws to
wall bottom hole of bracket.

19mm pan 10 gage. Screws to top of large bracket.

Step 1. Consider drop height:

When deciding height of track installation whether it’s for swags & tails or fabric valances workout how far the track covering will hang down and consider how it will impinge on the view out of your window.

For curtains made to Easy-Track specifications the drop should be between 2.5cm and 3 cm more than the finished length of the curtains - this will allow the curtains to hang between 1cm and 1.5 cm above the floor

Step 2. Mark the wall:

After working out the drop (point on wall where the underneath of the tracks will be mounted). Using a stud finder locate the studs in the wall and draw

a pencil mark at your drop measurement. Note: Some windows have wood everywhere and some windows have no studs at all. If no studs can be found wall plugs will have to be used. The gap between brackets should be no more than 650mm. Always measure track drop from floor.

Step 3. Fix small gold brackets to wall and mark centre:

Using a cordless drill and biggest screws - screw small gold brackets to wall with top of bracket even with pencil marks already made on wall. Leave 2 marks on each architrave without brackets these are for larger brackets.

Measure outside architrave to outside architrave half this measurement and measure out from one side, pencil mark this point at the same height on your wall as the other marks - this is your window middle point.

Step 4. Mark top of track and attach brackets:

Subtract the outside of window architrave to outside of window architrave measurement from the track length and divide by 2, put a mark on the track each side at this distance. This is where the end of architrave would be if you held the track up on top of the architrave in the middle. Also place a mark in the centre of the track underneath. Attach a large bracket to each end of track. Bracket can be lined up with either left or right side of track top pencil mark. Make sure position lines up with window side stud and bracket won’t interfere with the side of architrave. Attach brackets with long side on top of track and shorter side hanging down. With the cordless drill screw from top using small thick screws provided.

Step 5. Before attaching track to wall:

When screwing into small bracket in wall from underneath – position the tip of the screw as close to front side of bracket hole as possible – this will force track closer to the wall as screw tightens up.

Step 6. Fix track to wall:

Place tiny screw on cordless drill end and place drill in a position you can easily reach from ladder. Lift track up from the centre and place on top of gold brack- ets already attached to wall. Align middle track pencil mark with middle wall pencil mark. Using smallest screws while pushing track hard against wall screw – screw track to bracket. One screw should hold it till you organise yourself to put the remaining screws in.

Step 7. Screw in remaining screws:

Make sure track is straight and screw in all remaining screws. For big brackets already attached to track screw into wall make sure they go into a stud.
